Webinar Recap: Intro to Accessibility

Yesterday, we hosted a webinar on Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) . This webinar spoke on the details of WCAG, how it applies to you and your audiences, and the steps required to improve ADA and WCAG accessibility and compliance.

Key Takeaways:

WCAG guidelines are the consensus for standards around digital accessibility. You’ll see different conformance levels available for compliance.

Level A - easiest - provides limited accessibility

Level AA - recommend conformance

Level AAA - highest level, difficult to achieve

Within the guidelines, there are four principles for accessibility.

  1. Perceivable: the senses
  2. Operable: the functionality
  3. Understandable: the comprehension
  4. Robust: the technology

How does it work with fivestar*?

  2. Conduct Audit (manual and automatic testing)
  3. Analysis and Planning (highest priority issues)
  4. Execution (development and testing)
  5. Ongoing Monitoring (updates to standards)

For a more comprehensive overview, the recording of the webinar is available below. If you need help getting started with WCAG, let us know and we’d be happy to help you get started with understanding accessibility as it pertains to your content and how to achieve it.

Remember, accessibility is everyone’s responsibility. And it is an ongoing, continuous process!
